A deep moss-green coat edged in antique gold, a dark sack over one shoulder and a snow-laden fir in hand. This Father Christmas recalls the hush of a European woodland in midwinter. The painted expression, gilded edging and glittered base belong to Ino Schaller’s tradition of German papier-mâché Christmas figures since 1894. Particularly beautiful among dark evergreens, old ornaments and other collected pieces.
