Zingaro is the world Palma Cafolla built from perfume, flowers and the places that never left her.

Irish-Italian born and trained in perfumery in Grasse, France, Palma composes every Zingaro perfume in Victoria, British Columbia. She does not begin with a trend or a list of fashionable notes. She begins with a story an Italian village, a monastery after dark, jasmine moving through an open window, or the haunting feeling of someone returning home.

From there, the perfume is built slowly. Natural aromatic materials and fine perfumery ingredients are layered, altered and revisited until the composition has its own atmosphere, its own life movement and pulse. Nothing is added merely to impress. Every material must belong to the story.

A Zingaro perfume does not reveal itself all at once. It waits for the skin.

As it meets the warmth and movement of its wearer, different facets begin to emerge. What began as Palma's composition becomes deeply individual recognizable, yet never quite the same on two people. With time, the perfume settles into the wearer's life.

Our flowers inhabit the same world. Roses open beside herbs, fruit, tangled branches and things pulled from the earth. The season is allowed to remain wild. Each arrangement is composed as a living, fleeting work beautiful because it cannot remain exactly as it is.
